Hey there, remember me.
I know it's been a while, but I've been doing kind of an experiment. I've been on a diet of sorts. A diet from social media. I haven't done any blogs or very many facebook updates to see if I can be a more productive person.
And the results of my experiment. Utter failure.
I may not have blogged or facebooked, but I found other things to occupy my time. TV shows, sports, entertainment websites, netflix. It seems to me that I did everything and anything except social media and write.
So I've come to the conclusion that my problem is not social media like I had originally thought, but procrastination. That dastardly foe. The thorn in my side. My complete undoing.
I know it's procrastination, because as soon as I had a deadline, I finished editing my chapter.
So, I'm back to posting twice a week.
How about you? Do you suffer from procrastination and how do you defeat it?
PS
While I was gone a few exciting things happened:
Kasie West's book came out.
Christina Lee got a book deal.
Jessie Humphries got a book deal.
Melissa Hurst got an agent
Any other news I missed??

I hear you with the procrastination issue. I'm trying to outline a new novel. I'm excited about the book. It's the outlining I'm not hot about. But I know my books are a lot stronger when I outline first, so I will continue.
Thanks for sharing!
I've always wondered about this. I've pondered cutting back on blogging, etc., in the thought that I'd get more writing done. But then, I wondered if I'd just spend more time playing Spider Solitaire or Freecell. I guess I know the answer now. :)
Oh my gosh this had me busting out in laughter... OUT LOUD! :)
This is so me.
I'm glad you're going to be back. I've missed you. And I bet Netflix, the TV, and entertainment websites won't say that. :)
I'm the worst with procrastination. I'm a pro at crastination. Monday pun!
Anyhow, deadlines do help. I'm so thankful for my critique group because they give me a deadline and an audience.

Procrastination is the bane of my existence. I wish I could tell you how to defeat it, but I don't think there's anything that works except just sitting down and writing! (oh, and turning off the Internet to do so. :) )
Thanks for the shout out, Patti! :)
Oh, procrastination is my worst enemy. I have a hard time staying on task when I'm writing. One thing that helped me was to Word War with another writer. And deadlines are the best. I had to finish revising in December last year because of a contest I wanted to enter that required a finished manuscript.
I'm a procrastinator as well. :P Some weeks I do really really good, but others are awful. If you find a happy balance, let me know! ;)
procrastination ... ACK! ... and yet, here I am commenting on your blog instead of plugging away at my chapter in progress. :)
After the A to Z Challenge I will have to go back to my once a week blogging routine. Hopefully on of these days I can up it to 2. We shall see. It's tough to be away from social networking, it suck me in. hehe
I am totally the same. I always figure I will get the housework done during Spring Break, or summer vacation...but I do about as good a job then as I do when I am working. I have accepted the fact that I just don't like doing it, and I am okay with a less than perfectly clean house....not that that helps you with writing. :)
I blog often and I truly appreciate your content. This article
has really peaked my interest. I am going to book mark your site and keep checking for
new details about once per week. I subscribed to your Feed as
well.

Oh I think I should try some books that I never read before. Thanks for sharing!
Surely something that affects us all to one degree or another OR am I just guilty of postponing and delaying needlessly?
I'm a procrastinator as well! It might help to remember this, "The way to get ahead is getting started."
Have a great day.
