Or at least as done as I can be at for the moment. I finished the final edits on my book and have handed it over to my CP for a final look. Then I hope to start querying in September.
In the meantime, I have two options. Go edit the book I finished last summer or start a new one.
Over the past few months an idea has been percolating in my mind. It started with seeing a news story and then I heard a name. So I've been carrying around a notebook and writing down possible scenes, scenarios, and my favorite character names.
And for the first time ever I thought of a title before I even write a word.
All Things Sunny
Actually it's a pretty easy decision. I need a break from editing, so I'm going to work on something new. Once I get a logline written maybe I'll share.
What do you do when you've finished one project? Go edit another or start something new?

Patti, my pal, CONGRADS! You are rockin' now. Glad you finished it. (((HUGS)))
I ALWAYS start something new. I thing it keeps the creative part of my brain going. And it refreshes me to start a new project.
Can't wait to read your logline. I know someone who will edit it for free and she's OUTSTANDING! If you want her blog addy, email me. :-)
Congrats!!! And, I'd say, start the new one...it's better to be deep into a new book when you start querying...it makes the waits less stressful.
Congrats on finishing! I usually jump into something new.
And I really like your title!
Yaaaay, I'm so glad for you. That's a big step. Enjoy your next project while you wait for your CP feedback!!
Congratulations on finishing!!
I usually alternate too. Editing is my least favorite so I need to break it up with a fresh 1st draft of something new.
Look forward to hearing your log line.
Woohoo! Good for you! ;-) I don't know what I do. I've been popping between different stories for years based on requests and things. I prefer to write a book. While it's being critiqued, I like to start a new story. that's how I use to do it. Not sure now how things will go.
Love your title!
I try and start something new before I query. But I do relax for a bit and read and read and read and brainstorm new ideas! Congrats on finishing.
YAY!!!! Congrats on finishing and the upcoming querying!
And congrats on new ideas! I love new ideas. They are so bright and shiny and fresh!
And great title! I can't wait to hear what it's about!
Congrats on finishing!! Of course, you need to start something new and fun as a reward for all the hard work.
Congrats on finishing, and I agree, a break from editing is always refreshing. Good luck on the new project.
How exciting to finish a project! Way to go!
Have fun with your new project. Yay for beginnings:)
I need to read a book called All Things Sunny. I love new ideas-they are VERY exciting.
Good luck with querying! :)
Yay for a new idea! Best of luck with it.
I usually like to take a little break, just so I'm not totally hating writing. But it depends on what's going on, too.
Yay! Major congrats!
I usually give myself some time away from writing after I finish a project - around a week or so. I can't go much longer than that!
I like your title. I'm sitting here listening to the rain fall yet again and thinking that is just the kind of book I need right now.
I really like your title! And it's so refreshing to work on something new once in a while. I feel like sometimes a WIP can go stale (whether you're in the writing or revision stage), and working on another project can help you clear your mind. Good luck with everything, Patti! Have a great weekend.
Hey, we're almost in the same spot. I just finished my book and am doing a final edit. Then I have to decide whether to start something new or reinvent something old. Good luck!
Congrats on finishing it!!! I usually take a mental break and then go back to edit in a few weeks:)
I always feel restless when I "finish" - sort of lost. I'm in that weird place right now!! Finished my WIP and my CP has it - I don't know what to do with myself!
Congrats on being so close to querying - I wish you the BEST of luck.
