Sometimes when I play soccer, I don't like to start, especially if we're playing a new team. I usually like to watch the game for a little bit so I can determine who to look out for, who has a strong kick, or who might take you out.
Likewise when I read blogs. Once in a while, when I read a blog I don't necessarily like to be the first person who comments, especially if its my first time to someone's blog. I like to see what others have to say. Maybe a couple of posts to get to know the person. Although lots of times that's backfired and they've said the exact same thing I would have said.
What about you? Are always excited to be the first one commenting or do you hang back and wait for a while?
PS: Please don't let this post deter anyone from commenting first and have a great weekend full of Christmas cheer.

Too often I wait for someone else to comment first. Then I don't say anything at all because I feel what I have to say is repetitive or not as good. Kind of silly, I guess.
Depends on how much though the post stirs up. If it's one of those I'll be mulling on all day, I give it time. If it's an easy, knowable answer...bam, I'll be first.
Like your petals here.

No, I don't wait.
Not in commenting on blogs or in most real life situations. I'd be the one on the team who charges right into the game all gung-ho and takes a soccer ball to the head. Sometimes I learn...but not always.
I never really thought about it. I'm usually not first because of the time of day I tend to blog, but if there are no comments ahead of me, that doesn't keep me from leaving a comment. Love the soccer profile pic, by the way! :)
I'm rarely ever first but I only like to be first if I have something good to say in response to a post. But if I don't have anything or all I do have is something lame I will wait lol.
I don't mind being first. Love me some comment cherry~ *snort* OK, I just hopped over from Tart's... ;p
Merry Christmas, girl! <3
I never really thought about it. I comment when I'm there, if I have something to say. I hope you have a great Christmas.
I don't mind being the first to comment. It's when I'll be the 30th or more that I tend to pause, wondering if I should add to the already big list of comments.
I'm one who generally prefers to hang back a bit. It's less intimidating. :-)
If I'm there and have something to say, I'll comment, doesn't matter if I'm first or last. :)
It doesn't matter if I'm first or after a lot of other people, if I have something to add I'll leave a comment. I'm like you though, if I find a new blog I'll usually read a few posts before I comment.
I don't mind being first! In fact, I am really motivated when I see "O Comments"--must be my motherly instincts kicking in, like awwww, no comments yet? Ok, I will! Heehee.
Sometimes if a blog is REALLY inundated with comments, I won't comment, because I figure it's all been said, and my comment might not get read. So why do it? I can talk to myself at home. ;o)
I never really thought about it. I’m rarely the first one there.
I think it all depends on the type of blog it is.
