Back in the Saddle
The Christmas break was truly a time of relaxation. The kids slept in until 10 or 11 every day. I worked out a couple of times. Went to a couple of movies (Avatar and Sherlock Holmes - both good). Watch DVD's at home (Star Trek and Harry Potter), read a book (unfortunately it was the one my son is reading for school, so I could help him with homework, but it still counts as a book). I ate what I wanted with no guilt, except an occasional upset stomach. We visited with family and friends. Went skating, sledding, and shopping (my favorite of the three).
I barely looked at the computer and I didn't do any writing just a little revising.
Now we're back to reality. We have to wake up early tomorrow to go back to school and work. The kids will have homework and sports. I have a house that is in sore need of renovations and I still need to write. Scheduling my time and not wasting it will be imperative.
So I'm ready to focus and make 2010 a great year.
2 goals: a) find agent b) write another book
Let's get back at it.

Good luck! I know you're going to do awesome!
I'm glad you had a great time relaxing, you deserve it.
Jenni
I'm with you.
Welcome back, and let's get going!
Reality for sure! I loved being off over the holidays with my kids, but it's time to get back at it. Good luck with those great goals.
I like your goals--nice and simple. And oh my goodness the break was great and now it's back to the grindstone. :(
It's on! Ha!
I want to see Holmes and Harry Potter 6 (I'm a little behind)! I'm glad they were both good!
Sounds like an awesome break! I can totally relate! Back to work today!
Jenny: It was a nice break, can't wait for what this year might bring.
Jen: I'll second that.
Heather: spending time with the kids was great.
Southpaw: Grindstone sounds so hard, we should think of a different name.
Kristen: Holmes was good looks like it will be a sequel.
Jody: I'm going for 500 words today.
My kids don't go back to school until Thursday, so we are having another week of freedom. It's supposed to snow again Wednesday night, though, so they may not even go to school Thursday. I'm so ready to get back at it, but I guess it will have to wait a few more days.
Those are great goals, Patti. I pray you'll be successful at both! :-)
Good luck with the goals!
"The kids slept in until 10 or 11 every day." That must be nice. I would've taken 7:30. Ours are up at 6:00 or 6:30 every day.
Patti, you and I are definitely drinking the same water. :) My dad told me that years ago if two women in the same family became pregnant, the old timers would say they must have drank the same water. So we both have the two very same goals. It's the dang water! :0)
Glad to have you back. My Christmas was wonderful, sounds like yours was as well. :0) Happy New Year. We WILL find our agents. Yeah!
Susan: I don't know whether I'm jealous that you still have some days off from getting the kids to school or glad that we're back in the swing of things. Should we pray for snow or not.
Shannon: I'll pray as well.
Paul: My are teenagers and my 7 year old is something of an anomaly.
Robyn: Here's to both of us reaching our goals this year.
I told myself that on my drive to work this morning. "Unless you want to be stuck in this job the rest of your life, you need to put writing first!!!" I'm doing pretty well so far this year...staying on track. I started late last week and am trying to stay focused. It's easy to get distracted.
Thanks for visiting my blog today! And good luck to both of us. Our resolutions are short but definitely not simple... o_O
Excellent goals Patti! It feels kind of good to get back to real life. :)
I'm ready Patti! Sounds like you are too.
You have some great goals lined up!
I'm ready for action. 2010 is the year.
What is it with this horse and saddle business? I'm expecting a very equestrian theme for your next post. I like how simple and straight forward your goals are. And awesome vacation. Bummer it has to be over, huh?
I'm with you. Even though it's a challenge, it feels pretty good to get back in the swing of things. Good luck with your goals!
Thanks for the well wishes with the goals. I hope everyone achieves their goals as well.
Jessie: I didn't even clue into that and I don't even really like horses, since one tried to bit my son's arm off when he was three.
There is nothing like the focus that a well earned break brings. Good luck with your goals!
patti dont know if you saw but you won the neil gaiman book on my blog. I need your address :)
Sounds like good goals to me. :-)
