Be Careful What You Google For...

Today I was writing a scene where my MC gets drunk for the first time, but I don't drink so I don't know how much he would have to consume in order for him to act a certain way, so to google I went and typed in:

How many beers does it take to get drunk?

I found out the information I was looking for and went back to writing. An hour later (okay really it was 20 minutes), I took a break and my husband went on my computer.

A few minutes later he comes into our bedroom and says, "Please tell me you were the one googling about how to get drunk."

We have two teenage boys, so you can imagine the relief on his face when I told him it was me.

So be careful what you google.

How about you? Not that getting drunk is weird, but what is the weirdest thing you've googled?

:) Loved it!

Yeah, I've googled lots of crazy things--how it feels to get shot, how to use a taser, You-tube video of someone getting hit by a taser, poison, human sacrifice, etc.

Hey, I tagged you in a novel excerpt thingy: http://www.paulliadis.com/blog/2013/01/7s-challenge-and-an-excerpt-of-my-novel/

You don't have to do it if you don't want, though.

Hmm. I'm not sure what the weirdest thing I've googled is, though I've learned to be careful when looking up medical conditions.

I'm laughing so hard I can't think of an answer to your question. I have looked up some pretty weird things, though often they have to do with symbolism.

Hahaha! That's funny. I've googled some pretty weird things in my time - I think most writers probably do. We're a weird bunch!

LOL! I've been quite self-conscious about some of the things I've googled as research for books. I won't even mention them here (not racy, but nothing I'd want my kids to be researching!)

While you may be thinking that the best nail polish is best nail polish, but there is better on the marketing today! Perhaps they can say that they are the best polish with the most colors in the local drugstore, but nothing more! Yet, don't you believe that your nails should look better than drugstore quality, and should definitely last more than a mere day or two before you have to repaint them? That freshly painted look should last well past the third day, but unfortunately OPI, nor any other drugstore brand can promise you that! I was recently googling explosives to blow up a building. I hope no one's keeping an eye on my computer!

This made me laugh!! I've always hoped no one close to me dies, because if someone searched my hard drive, there'd be a lot of explaining I'd have to do!! At least my husband isn't asking why I have searches for blood spatter and handling police interrogations... :)

I like your patchwork quilt. How long has it been since I've been here?? I'll be better this year!

Hahahaha! That's an awesome story!

I've googled some pretty weird things. The worst was probably about bombs that have the ability to destroy the world. ;)

Its a standing joke (but true) that I got my husband to install a parental lock so I couldn't inadvertently access something I'd be shocked/upset by so when typing in the book title Swallowing Grandma (a totally innocent read despite a title which could suggest otherwise) the computer shut down warning that access was prohibited.

I can't think of anything odd that I've googled. How boring is that?
