Friday Favourites

This week I don't think it will come as any surprise that my favourite thing is my new shiny laptop

I've written and edited more this week then I did the whole month of December. That's because I can do it at the kitchen table. I'm not stuck downstairs in a dark part of the house away from my family. I can write while my kids mull around, while I give my daughter a spelling test, while I cook dinner, or even while the basketball game is on TV.

Basically, I'm having a lot less guilt about spending time on the computer because I'm still around my family while I'm doing it as opposed to being hidden. Does this make any sense?

Anyway, it's been great. You'll have to excuse the photo, I just got home from soccer practice and nobody wants to see a picture of my red face.

How about you? What's been your favourite thing this week?

I finally started editing my manuscript after putting it off for too long. Nice laptop! Congrats!

Congrats on the laptop, and Yay for Macs! I approved the final digital proof of my book, moving closer to publication in March.

When I finally got the Monster a computer for her very own, we had to put it in the kitchen, and even though it's used and kind of clunky, I think I use it more than she does. It's so nice to sit upstairs at night and tap away on her shiny new keyboard, than for me to go downstairs and freeze for a few hours.

I really want a laptop this year so I can write in bed. I think it would be a cool experience to try. I might not like it, but still, a laptop would be nice.

Nice! I do understand the guilt. That's why I have a laptop. But now I'm jealous. I want a mac! *sob*

So you finally went with the laptop, as you say them being so portable is a big bonus.

My favourite thing this week? The visit from my sister, my niece and my great-nephew who at 13 months is beginning to develop a character all of his own.

Congrats on the new laptop!!!!

I have to be hidden in my room to write. I'm too easily distracted, as you've probably noticed during our lunches. :D

Congrats on the laptop. Mine really changed my life. I don't think I'd go back to a traditional computer or to using a tablet.

My favorite thing this week was deciding how to move forward with my writing career.

My favorite thing was that I saw you joined my blog this week Patti. And although it wasn't on my profile anywhere, I love soccer too! But I coach, I don't officially play. I'll stop by your blog more often. I like my laptop option too!

Having the right environment to write is a real help.

My favourite thing this week is my eldest son turning 18 as I get to eat some birthday cake.

That's awesome that you got a new laptop. :) I totally get ya. I love my laptop. It's a tiny netbook, so I can take it with me anywhere.

I don't blame you for all the laptop love! I heart my laptop. It's a mini, so it's about the size of a hardback book. I can take it anywhere! It's amazing how much more work it allows me to get done.

I don't know how people function on desktop computers. I'm sure it would be better for my neck and shoulders, but I love that I can flip it open, check email, do a bit of editing, and then set it aside, all while hanging with my kids.
