Three Way Mirror

The other day I realized, much to my displeasure, that I needed a new bra. I hate bra shopping. In fact, I had it a hundred times worse than buying a new bathing suit.

I picked out about ten bras and went to the change room that had a three way mirror it it. I tried bra after bra on and every time I looked in the mirror I realized something – I'm out of shape. Nothing like seeing yourself from all angles, to get a reality check. You really can't eat a box of Toffifees and lose weight.

Sometimes I feel like this with my writing. There are certain times when I see it better.  I get a reality check on to what I need to add and what I need to get rid of. Here are a few of my three way mirrors:
  • After I let it sit for a while.
  • After I get it back from a CP.
  • After I've read a good book.
  • After I've worked on another project.
  • After I've gone for a long walk.
How about you? Are there times when you see your book better, without resorting to a three way mirror?

I hear you on the bras. Gravity doesn't help.

As for the ms. Totally after letting it sit, the longer the better. Like a fine wine, it needs to age to be appreciated. Or thrown out as vinegar.

Hysterical. Bra shopping = my nemesis.

Distance helps and reading other excellent books really puts a light on my words.

A great analogy, I avoid three way mirrors at all cost, I'd rather bury my head in the sand as it were.

Bra shopping is right up there with dental visits, my friend. I know someone who calls bras her slingshots. I hate wearing them. Ack!

And I'm on a diet and back to running. I is waaaay out of shape. I was shocked to see the flab that had grown under my elastic waist pants. And it's Christmas time. *boohoo* *blubber* I want some cookies and candy and good stuff.

You've nailed it, Patti, as to how I do it.

One of the advantages of being fairly flat chested is that I can get away with wearing something that looks like a training bra. Buying bras are no longer stressful. :D

Hilarious comparison! I'm out of shape too--and I really don't want a 3 way mirror near me! LOL. Also, I hate to buy! I like new clothes tho--but I really hate to buy them! Haha!

And sure! we need CPs and to read good books and let it sit for a while!

This ms that got me agented again was like that--I worked on 2 projects in between, and I think that helped a LOT!

And thanks for stopping by my blog the other day and sending good vibes! I'm sorry I haven't been commenting so much, but I guess you know why I've been so busy! LOL

Thankfully I haven't seen a three-way mirror for a long time! My bras are getting very old though. :) Time away helps me see my WIP with fresh eyes, but too long away, like bra shopping, can make me forget what 'size' I am!

Lol, I would have never thought to compare bra shopping to writing!

You're right about time away from a WiP. It always seems to help me see things that I missed before. Things that need to be fixed.
