Mind Numbing Middle

I've been doing another set of revisions and I've come to a conclusion. I love the opening. I love the end. The middle - meh.

Not to say that it's not good, it's just not as exciting as the beginning or end. Here, I'm introducing characters, setting, and plot. My pace is a little slower. I'm trying to build tension, but I think I need to stream line a few things.

Introduce my characters faster, only put the essentials in when it comes to setting, and make sure everything furthers the plot.

That's my goal this week: Strengthen my middle, of my book that is - although my core could use some strengthening as well.

Any goals for you this week?

Well, at least you have a good start and a strong finish. If you know where you are going and you know where you came from it can't be too hard to fix that flagging middle :)) Hopefully :)

I have my ms out with betas so unfortunately my biggest this week is to catch up on cleaning - I'd much rather be writing. ;)

I'm in the middle too now. Goal is to keep plugging away at the middle and I was thankful for a few successful hours of plotting yesterday to help sharpen my blubbering middle.

Too bad I've neglected to get any real exercise lately.

Ha! My core could use some strengthening to..

As for the middle of my story, I just finished revising the plot (I revise in layers) and I'm wondering if my middle needs to be redone. I realized that a central part to mine is a love story, which I never really intended. So, most of the tension comes from that. I'm wondering though if I need more tension, but in a different way. I just sent it off my CPs, so we shall see what they think!

Good luck- half the battle is knowing what you need to do!!

My MS is out in Queryland, so this week I'm working on my new project. It's fun to dive into something new.

Good luck with your middle! :)

I'm stuck in the middle too, and I'm losing my motivation. Not a good thing for me. Not A Good Thing. Time to push myself through another chapter.

YOU CAN DO THIS! :-)

Ah, the mushy middle. I think I go through this with every book. Good luck on getting it smoothed out!

My goal for the week - take one day at a time! ;-)

I would like to strengthen my core too-body wise that is! So my goal is not to skip my workouts. And to continue revisions on a short story. You have the middle between strong areas and I am sure with some working out the "meh" area will soon be in shape too.

I need to spruce up and strengthen a few areas myself.

Continue editing my WIP since my CP is waiting for the next three chapters.

Plus I'm one of Laura's beta readers, and I want to finish her book by the end of the weekend.

Ah, middles. This is usually where my characters end up walking and walking and walking ...

Good luck with yours! Sounds like you have a good plan!
