What would you sacrifice?

Lately I've been trying to do it all and failing miserably, especially on the writing front. So I've decided that some sacrifices must be made.

The question is what am I willing to sacrifice.

Is it sleep?

Is it going to my kids games?

Is it a clean house?

Is it soccer?

Is it Glee, Raising Hope, and Big Bang Theory?

Theses are questions I'm going to try to think about this weekend.

What kinds of things do you need to give up in order to be able to write more?

That's really tough. Unfortunately, I had to cut out a television show and a little bit of sleep. Or, I set time to wake up a little earlier on the weekends. You can do it!!!

I'm lucky at the moment in that nothing I have to sacrifice is so important to me that it could actually be termed a sacrifice.

It has been two weeks since I've spent more than two hours in front of the tv, though.

I'm in exactly the same place as you. I just know the house is going to suffer. Feb is a big edit month for me, so I'm going to try to cook ahead and menu plan and clean up at weekends.

Just love to write though, so it's sooooo worth it.

Well, I don;t know what you should give up, but I can tell you what I gave up. TV. And it wasn't that hard.

Cleaning and TV hands down. Just make sure you keep doing something for you or to unwind.

Hands down for me it's housework. I set aside Sunday morning to clean thoroughly and the rest of the week, I don't care. I may throw in a load of laundry on weds. but that's it. Well, and the dishes every night after supper but cleaning every day, no way.

I also limit myself to watching ONLY my favorite shows on tv one night a week. I'm waiting for the day I can afford DVD's of all the seasons I miss.

I say cleaning. Who wants to clean anyway?

Ugh! I've been wondering those things myself. I think Susan has a good idea with the cleaning thing. =D

Cleaning. Definitely ;)

I'm starting to deal with the idea that having a clean house might not be as important as my mom told me it was...

I may or may not need therapy.

Just my sanity, that's all.

Things done around my house get pushed to the back burner.

I've sacrificed two main things. About an hour of sleep (I always used to get 8-9 hours a night, now I get about 7, sometimes 8, sometimes 6) and I also used to exercise a LOT, but now I just walk 4-5 times a night on the treadmill, which is a lot less than I used to do.

I've had to cut down on reading blogs. :( I'm less picky about how "clean" a clean house is and quick meals with made with few pots and pans are a must!

Well I can cross two off your list straight away - you certainly can't give up sleep or Big Bang Theory - at least I know I couldn't.

TV. Seriously. I gave up cable three years ago and LOVE it. I only watch a movie when I want to. The only show I'm addicted to is Mad Men and I watch that on Amazon's On Demand the Monday after it airs - and I can do that whenever I want. I seriously, seriously would advocate for getting rid of the tv!!! It's a huge time waster, IMO.

Oh and TV, too.

That's easy for me. Television. I watch one show a week. Castle. Previously, I cut out almost all the shows I was watching because I either wanted to write or read. Good luck figuring it out!

So true!! Such a dilemma, when you've packed your life full of such good things. How to choose what to cut??

Most TV is gone for me, and a little sleep. I dropped the gym, too, which was less hard since I broke my foot and couldn't go anyway. Now I'm going to have to figure out how to work some exercise back in.

Sigh.

Haha, yes, cleaning house. I've discovered the key to THAT is...don't look. If you don't look, you never know it's dirty (well, up to a point, heehee). Happy weekend!

Okay, people that live in my house. Your chore list just got BIGGER. hehe I mean I needs a clean house, but I also needs my writing time. So people are going to have to HELP OUT MORE! ;)
