Takes a licking but keeps on....

Thanks for the well wishes on my last post. Apparently, I suffered a minor concussion and have either bruised or broken ribs. I'll be getting an x-ray tomorrow and will find out on Monday how long my soccer break will be.

My doctor said to me as he shook his head, "This soccer thing has been hard on you."

But when I'm playing soccer, I don't look at all of the injuries I've had (broken wrist, achilles problems, sprained knee). I only see all the fun I've had. I'm doing something I love with people I love. So even though I might regret it when I'm 60 and can hardly walk, I'll keep playing until I can't run anymore.
Same with writing. Yes there's hardship. Sometimes rejection can get you down. Sometimes the lack of words has you questioning what the hell you're doing, but I know this for sure. I will keep writing for as long as I can.

That's really admirable that you get out there and play like that. Sounds like you go all out. I myself am a total whimp and a complete klutz but I always admire people who can play sports.

Ow! Hope you mend fast. Yep, good comparison to writing! You fall down and you keep boinging back up again to get hit--I mean to try again. LOL

Life is always better when you have something that you love to do.

Hope you feel better soon, Patti. And I know exactly how you feel about the writing.

Love the picture, btw! :D

I think it's great you have another passion besides writing - even better that it's an active one!

Bahahaha that picture...classic.
It's really cool that you do what you love even though you are so darn breakable! Take care of yourself!

Ouch. I did a number on my ribs a few years back. Hope it doesn't hold you back for too long.

Great analogy - don't stop til you get enough. ;)

I absolutely love that picture. I hope you're feeling better. I hurt my knee last a year ago playing indoor and it took 6 months to heal. I haven't gotten back on a team yet, but I would if there was one closer to where I live!

Hi Patti, I hope you heal up soon and are back on the indoor court and the outdoor field!!

Patti! I'm so sorry that happened to you! Are you feeling better? I run and know of the pain of pulling the wrong muscle or things that aren't working the right way. But I love running so I keep doing it. Feel better soon! ((hugs))

Pain never feels quite as bad when it's suffered at the hands of something you love. That sounds like a promotion for abusive relationships, but hopefully you know what I mean!

Holy cow!! I missed a few days of blogs and missed a concussion and broken ribs??? I feel like such a heel!

I love your attitude (and that awesome picture!). I never want to see people I like getting hurt, but I understand the need to keep going at something you love, no matter what.

I suppose as I age things just naturally are starting to hurt that didn't used to. But that's not going to stop me from doing the things I love. Of course, I'm not being chased down on a field and being barreled into, either. I hope the person who kicked that ball at your feels badly about it!

Feel better soon! And take some time to pamper yourself, if only to sit for a few hours and relax!

Ouch! I hope you are better soon! You're definitely one adventurous woman--I'm constantly in awe of those who are so devoted to being athletic as I'm the farthest thing from it. Not that I haven't tried...it's just not in the genes I suppose :)

Praying for a speedy recovery!

I hope they are only bruised (which is bad enough but cracked or broken and movement is not too much of a choice for a while.)
