Finding the Compliment

So I've been trying to look at the positives in life and lately when people say the smallest things I try to take them as compliments.

Last week me and my husband were in a store when the sales lady starting talking about "Pat" from SNL, then she says "You two would be too young to remember that show" - Excellent compliment.

After one of my soccer games my daughter asks me if I'm naturally good at soccer - Another excellent compliment.

Teaching 11 year old boys in church. "Of course you know more than us, you're like 28" - my favorite compliment.

My nieces telling that my kissing scene was the most disgusting they have ever read - loved that one.

It's always good to find the small things in life that make us happy.

Happy 4th of July and belated Canada Day, which was on the first.

Cool idea. I love the 'you're like 28' compliment. Cute!

I remember Pat. Uh oh.

My sister is naturally good at soccer. I like that one. I'm naturally good at eating.

An excellent suggestion! It's so easy to find the negatives in everything instead of the positives.

My doctor told me I didn't look anywhere near 40. I think he meant I looked younger. I took it as a compliment. Why is it the age thing becomes our favorite compliments now? :)

Those ARE some awesome compliments.

I love when I buy a lotto ticket and the clerk asks to see my ID. You have to be 18 to but lotto tickets. Since I just turned 31 I'm always happy to prove that I am indeed over 18. :)

Hope you had a wonderful 4th!

The small compliments mean a lot you are so right.

My niece told me, while cuddling with me, that I am comfortable like a bed. I'm going to take that as a compliment and not an insult that implies I may have more padding than most people.

Okay, I don't know if my comment went through. Just wanted to say your nieces made me laugh!

Tabitha: I liked that compliment too and when I said thank you to the boys they looked quite puzzled.

Wendy: I join you in that talent.

Heidi: You definitely look younger.

Karen: Love when that happens. We got ID at a bar once and me and my friend laughed and told the bouncer he was cute.

Amber: Kids say the greatest things, like when my daughter announced that my hair was turning grey.

Jessica: It made me laugh as well.

Thanks for reminding me to keep an eye out for the little things, I bet they add up quick and I could sure use the boost!

Robyn: It is rather gross.

Shannon: I'm going to try and continue.

Jen: The funny thing is, I'm pretty sure they didn't realize they were doing it.

Lois: You could come teach my primary class.

T.Anne: I'll come over and give you a boost.

I like your positive take on things.

I think it is wise to listen to those small compliments--they boost us when we need it:)

I'd love to hear what you nieces say about those kissing scenes a few years from now! LOL.

You are so right. First, we have to learn to recognize those little compliments, and then graciously accept them. Then do our best to offer little compliments to others.

Oops, sorry for all the deletes up there. I got carried away with the "publish" button.

Too funny about the kissing scene. I always get "weirded" out when my family reads those in my manuscripts because I never know what they're going to think. And, thanks for the reminder to take the things people say positively.
