Well I tried to keep my pessimistic side at bay and hoped for the best at my soccer game last night, but we lost 4-0. We commiserated afterwards with cake and pizza, and tried to figure out what went wrong. After a few hours, more than was actually spent playing the game, we decided we needed more game play practice, among other things.

Now after having four hours of sleep last night, I've put the game behind me and have moved on to focusing on next weeks challenge.

I guess this is what we have to do when we receive a rejection. Take a moment to be sad, angry, and disappointed, or just have a good cry in the bathroom, but then move on. Put that letter behind us and keep trying.

Maye it's not about being pessimistic or optimistic, but being resilient. Having the perseverance to keep going and not give up.

Hopefully I can maintain that attitude as I begin quering and try to make it through this incredibly hard soccer season.

That's a tough result. Still, you got to play some soccer which is a major plus in my book.

Plus, cake and pizza!

Sorry about your team's loss. At least you guys decided to work harder. The same thing can definitely be said for writing. Great comparison!

definitely true in writing. so much of it is about persistence and resilience.

Bummer about the game! Resilience is definitely a trait to pull out & shine up during querying.

What an excellent attitude! It is about persistence! We grieve for a minute (or day!) and then we move on and keep working hard!

I think cake and pizza are great ways to deal with loss! Was that the point you were trying to make? Sorry about your game, but I'm jealous of your fit self right now. You probably have muscles in your legs. I want those.

Sorry about the game. You'll get them next time. But yay for cake and pizza!

Rejection (and loss) are hard, but I yours is a great attitude to have! I always figured that if I didn't get rejected now and then I wouldn't be able to relate with all the other writers out there. Now I can relate--REALLY WELL! LOL.

cake and pizza are good for querying, too! Just saying....

and good company to sympathize with you.

Even if they are in the blogosphere.

The cake wasn't that great, it was store bought. The pizza, well, pizza is hardly ever bad and we also had chicken wings. I forgot the chicken wings.

I think my food of choice when I get a rejection will be chocolate, probably my chocolate chip cookies, because I make really good ones.

Bummer about the game. But your attitude is awesome. I think it's good to feel sadness/disappointment/whatever-the-heck-you-are-feeling, but then we have to move on and let the past go. Better luck next time. ;)

Yes, I think resilience and perseverance and key.

Good luck with soccer and queries!!

I agree--persistence is huge. We need to keep writing, keep improving, and keep submitting. :)
