More editing…

Editing is a never-ending spinning ride and I’m starting to get nauseous.

I’m really beginning to wonder if I have one original sentence left in my manuscript. I’m amazed at how I can go through a chapter that I’ve already read like seventeen times and think of a better way to say something or see a spelling mistake or realize I don’t need a whole paragraph.

Does it ever end… Will it ever be good enough…

The answer is….I’m not sure. What I do know is I’ll keep plugging away, chipping away at it, one sentence at a time.

That's the best ay to do it, Patti.

I used to like writing the first draft the best, but on this book, I think I'm going to like the revising even better. So I know where you're coming from.

Keep it up!

Another word of encouragement from me: Just keep editing. I know it's difficult, but you'll get through.

Also, try not to focus on one section too much. When you are done, try and find a beta reader (the free Absolute Write forums have a section specifically devoted to it). Often, another pair of eyes can really help offer insight on something you may not have otherwise seen.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep plugging away. but it will be nice to be done. I'm one those people who have a hard time working on two projects at once.

Did I not comment on this? I swear I commented on this. Everyone's blog theme lately seems to be editing. I am way behind.

I know what you mean!! The first draft is a constantly moving forward action - writing to an end.

The editing is trying to make every word perfect. And that never ends.

It's both rewarding and frustrating!
